In 2015, ADRA Ghana was engaged by the UNHCR to provide Ivorian refugees in three camps in Ghana with livelihood empowerment skills and opportunities. There are 8700 refugees from Cote d’Ivoire domiciled in the three camps. Unfortunately ADRA came in when food rationing by WFP to the refugees was ending therefore the urgent need to promote agriculture. According to Mr. TAYE KOUET ULRICH (Yam Farmer) “…with the help of ADRA-GHANA through the provision of poultry manure and best agricultural practices, I milked about 700 tubers of yam, sold some of the tubers and realized GHS 350. I am now food secured, thanks to the agricultural intervention I signed on to- Mr. Taye Kouet Ulrich, Yam Farmer
The credit facility given to me under the SIYB (START AND IMPROVE YOUR BUSINESS) project has greatly assisted me in expanding my production level. I used to produce 200 pieces of soap per day, but my production has increased to over 600 pieces per day after benefitting from the project. The days of hunger are now over for me and my 11 dependents.- Mr. Ziehi Gonsiekplin Baudouin, , A Soap producer
With the little support of 151 layers we are currently managing, we are making an average of GHC 276.64 per week. The group through ADRA-GHANA has opened a group account with Kaaseman Rural Bank located at Berekum. Members are given monthly allowances to take care of their families after money for the farm’s operations have been deducted.- Madam Elizabeth Nonhi , Old Poultry Group Leader
