The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Ghana, has presented quantities of Infection Prevention Consumables (IPCs) to Somsei Chps Compound in the Afram Plains District. The items included three (3) cartons (3,000pcs) of medical hand gloves, seventy-eight (78) pieces [7packs] of hand paper Towels, seven (7) gallons of liquid soap, five (5) gallons of hand sanitizer, one (1) set of improved hand washing kit (Veronica bucket and basin), ten (10) packs of nose masks and one (1) gallon of disinfectant to protect health workers from contracting infectious diseases as well as the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. The items valued over GHS 6,000 were presented to the facility through the Chief of the Somsei community.
Dr. William Y. Kpakpo Brown, Country Director of ADRA Ghana, said the commitment of the organization is to protect health workers in the community’s Chps compound and patients that visit the facility against infectious diseases, and the items would go a long way to prevent direct contact between patients and health professionals. He added that the organization mainly deals with cashew, mango, orange, and soybean in terms of crop production, and as such, the organization would do its best possible for the community to become one of the producers of cashew in the district and the country at large. In addition to the IPCs provided, the organization is willing to provide cashew seedlings as well as the appropriate technical support to ten (10) farmers in the community to initiate the Somsei cashew production agenda.

Nana Adansi, the Ankobeahene of Kwahu who received the items on behalf of the community expressed his appreciation to ADRA Ghana for the items provided and their plans to make the community a “producer of cashew”. Nana said that through the support from ADRA, the items are going to help protect the health workers and also encourage the citizens to seek healthcare whenever they are sick. He added that he believes ADRA cashew production implementation is excellent, and the community is going to do its best for the dream to come true. He then handed the items over to the nurses in charge and advised that they should ensure the effective use of the items as best as they can.
The Nurse in charge of the Chps compound, Prince Couffie, after receiving the items thanked ADRA Ghana and added that they have been lacking these items for years, and these items will help facilitate their work and will them provide quality healthcare in the community. He promised they will do their best to manage the items given.
